You may know me as a cook, but at my core I’m a traveler.

From my time sailing with the Spanish Navy as a boy to opening new restaurants around the world and even going to disaster zones and feeding people in need— there’s no doubt about it. I love to travel. And I’m sure many of you do too!

Over the years I’ve taken you all with me on my adventures, sharing photos and videos on social media and on my first newsletter, Longer Tables. A few years ago I guest-edited an issue of Food & Wine Magazine and included “My Everything Guide to Spain,” a collection of restaurants, bars, hotels, and other places I love to go when I visit Spain. And most recently, my daughters and I made a TV show, José Andrés and Family in Spain, where we traveled all across Spain and learned about the culture and history behind Spain’s most beloved places and dishes.

But after all that, there are still so many stories and dishes and drinks and restaurants to tell you about! So that’s why I wanted to bring you my list! Here you can find my recommendations for where to eat and drink from all the places I’ve lived and traveled. Not only will I give you my recommendations all across Spain, but everywhere else I love to go—from my favorite tapas bars in Barcelona to the places to get a great cocktail in Beirut to where I get my oysters in my home state of Maryland. Each guide will be a taste of all the people and places you’ll experience if you want to travel like me!

But this won’t just be about me. My friends will share some of their favorite places to eat and drink around the world…including Eva Longoria’s favorite places for a taco in Mexico City as well as Marcus Samuelsson’s perfect day in Harlem.

And I also want to hear from you! In addition to my recommendations, I’ll always be asking our community of travelers about where you like to go for a meal or a drink, you can share your favorite places as well.

Together, we’re going to build the best, most complete travel guide in the history of mankind!

What’s in it for you!

Non-paid subscribers will get a taste of my travel experiences. You’ll hear why I love a particular region and some stories from my latest travels there. But my friend, if I’m being honest, what we’re really talking about is becoming a member of something bigger than all of us … The Chef’s List.

For $25 per month, or $50 per year, you’ll get full access to all of my guides, which I’ll publish every other week. You’ll get to see the places I recommend, hear about who you’ll meet and what you’ll eat and drink when you visit those places. You’ll also have access to my friends’ lists, and can join in community discussion threads and give us all your recommendations. I’ll be building a map of where I love to go around the world, and would love to include your favorites as well…it will be a practical, useful guide so that when you’re on the ground in a new city, you already know where you’ll want to go.

But remember…this is a community of food lovers and travelers. We want to trust each other's recommendations, so we need you to show that you're really into this, like I am. If you want to be on The Chef’s List (which I know you do!) I’ll ask you to share with me and my team a few lines about what you love to eat—whether it's a great restaurant you've been to recently, a dish you've tasted, or a recipe you've made. That way we all know we can trust that you have great taste.

I believe that food has the power to connect the world…my hope is that this guide will be a chance for food lovers like you and me to connect over our love of food, drink, travel, and people!
