Friends…you’ve heard from me a LOT this week, haven’t you? We’ve been all over the world, and today we’re back where we (and I!) started: Spain. Tomorrow, I’ll be asking all of you for your recommendations for the places we’ve visited over the last few days and beyond, and my team will start adding them to the map. We’ll also add some of the great recommendations you’ve been making for other cities around the world, like FiskeBar in Copenhagen, recommended by Steven Kinsley; Locust in Nashville, mentioned by Jackie Babat; and Taberna Típica Quarta Feira in Évora Portugal, from Susan Gaskins. I haven’t been to any of them, and am excited to put them on MY list!!
After tomorrow, we’ll do this all a bit more leisurely: I’ll send you my list every two weeks, and in between I’ll be asking for your own recommendations for those places. Guess where we’re going next? I’ll give you a hint…it’s an ancient city on the sea, with access to some of the most amazing seafood, olives, and wine in the world. Where do you think it is?
Okay friends, vamos a España!
Have you had a chance to watch my show José Andrés and Family in Spain? On the show, you come along with me and my daughters Carlota, Inés, and Lucía, as I give them an in-depth tour of the country where their mother and I both grew up. Together we travel to Barcelona, Madrid, Andalucía, Valencia, Lanzarote, and to my birthplace of Asturias, eating everything from the most simple tapas to the amazing dishes that tell Spain’s culture through food. Along the way we have many adventures, exploring history and traditions, enjoying celebrations, and so much food. I mean, it was a lot of eating, even for me! At the end of every day, we were very full…and very happy!
If you have, good! I hope you enjoyed it and shared it with your friends. Even if you missed the first few episodes on CNN, you should plan on tuning in at 9pm on Sunday, November 26 for a four-episode marathon (!)…or you can stream the show on Max so everyone can watch.
And…as you were watching, did you take notes? Do you have your itinerary set for everywhere you want to go when you’re in Spain?
If you did, amazing…you are an A++ student, and I can’t wait to hear where you are planning to visit when you go!
If you didn’t…what are you waiting for? It’s time to visit Spain! I’m not going just for my own enjoyment or to teach my daughters, but to help guide you on your own journey!! Come on, people.
So…here we go, The Chef’s List guide to some of my very favorite spots we visited during the filming of the show!
