What are your New England favorites?
Tell us where you like to go in northern New England!
Hola amigos. Did you like hearing from Ben and Jerry’s own Ben Cohen last week? I think it sounds like an amazing trip for the spring or summertime, to go up to Vermont and have your fill of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and of course, ice cream. Below I’d love if you share your own favorite spots in northern New England—Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine (lobsters, anyone?)
Before we get there, a few of you weighed in on my question from a few weeks ago, asking about Black-owned restaurants that you all love…I’m so excited to know about these places, to be able to check them out as I travel! Mark L told us about a favorite spot of his in California:
Burdell in Oakland is simply superb! It is a relatively new restaurant in the Temescal district, serving up Chef Geoff Davis' menu of highly creative but deeply satisfying dishes. It is his interpretation of soul food, which he states is informed by the meals he had at his grandparents table as a youth. These dishes defy expectations--some are riffs on classic soul food staples, but most are personal takes on things that challenge and reward the diner.
Dave P. had a recommendation in St. Louis:
For us, this is a special new restaurant in St Louis, Rated Test Kitchen. It is tasting menu reservation only spot in downtown with the coolest 22 year old chef/owner we've seen in a long time, Juwan Rice. The menu is varied and sourced seasonally, but the octopus reminded me of my favorite Jaleo dish.
And Rachel T told us about a great spot in Ohio:
Nolia in Cincinnati, Ohio. Great vibe, amazing people and excellent food. Whether you’re there for a “fancy” night out or come for fried chicken and po boys at Sunday Supper you will not be disappointed. https://noliakitchen.com/
Remember…if you want your recommendations to be shared here, and to get access to the map (not to mention full access to each of our guides), you can become a paid member of The Chef’s List!
So today your assignment is northern New England. Where do you like to go in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine? For dinner, for drinks, for creemees?
Tell us!
Row 34 in Boston is really good! They also have branched out into New Hampshire.
