Hello to my Chef’s List community—I’m back. Thank you all for your words and support this month—it’s been a tough one for the entire World Central Kitchen community. If you want to check out the interfaith service that we had last week, I wrote about it on Monday on Longer Tables:
To get us back into the swing of things here, I thought I’d hand over the List to my oldest daughter Carlota, who lives in New York. She graduated from NYU three years ago and works at a food startup in the city, so she definitely knows the food scene. She also tells me she knows Madrid pretty well, though obviously not as well as me…but maybe someday she can come back here to tell us about her favorite bars in Madrid…?
Oh, and of course Carlota has been cooking and eating with me forever now, so I know she has a great palate. Here’s a clip of us (with her middle sister Inés) at Disfrutar, one of the most amazing restaurants in the world, discovering a dessert hidden in the table:

I moved to New York about 7 years ago and have gone to many, many restaurants throughout the years. I read in an article that it would take a person 22.7 years—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—to eat at every restaurant in the New York area. I am nothing close to that but I do try to go to a new restaurant once a week; some months are better than others. But there are a handful of restaurants that I frequent quite a lot, below are a few.
