Hello people of The Chef’s List,
I’m sorry you didn’t hear from me last week. Maybe you saw the news: last Monday, my World Central Kitchen team was attacked while making a food delivery in the north of Gaza. Seven members of the team were killed. It was an incredibly tough week, you might imagine.
If you want to read more about what I’ve written and said about the incident and the aftermath, please take a look at my New York Times oped, and the statements that World Central Kitchen has released on their website. WCK has created a fund for the families of our team members—if you want to consider a contribution, please visit here. This collective effort is in addition to WCK’s contributions to the families and aims to help with some of the financial hardships their families might face as they navigate life without their beloved family members.
I’ll be back here soon with more recommendations—I have some ideas to share about Los Angeles, and my oldest daughter Carlota will be sharing her favorite places in New York.
Until then, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
I think I can say on behalf of this whole community here, Chef, take your time. The content can wait. In the scheme of things, it’s not a priority. Heal. We will be here to welcome you back when you’re all ready.
I am so deeply sorry for the loss you are facing. I watched your interview and I was so taken by your poise and dignity… It just speaks volumes about who you are and what your organization represents. I’m so
Glad to know there are people like you and your organization, taking care of the rest of the world one day at a time one meal at a time one human kindness at a time… Thank you
